Libing Peng graduated from Beijing Institute of Chemical Engineering (now known as Beijing University of Chemical Technology) in Beijing with a Bachelor’s degree in 1990, and received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from State University of Ghent (now known as Ghent University) in Ghent, Belgium in 1996.
